Montreal Day TWO

Today we took a bus tour into the city and then a "hop-on-hop off" tour of the city. It was very warm and although one of the pick ups for us did not come we had a good day. Ernest is checking the batteries and doing the windows in preparation for our drive tomorrow. I am excited that tomorrow we will be in Ontario....one more province closer to home! The two tree topiary are in our park....beautiful!

Montreal Day ONE!

We arrived here yesterday and had a bit of trouble setting up the motor home, the hydraulic leveling system would not turn on so Ernest could drop our air and put down the jacks. We ended up leveling with a board under the front tire and then we did not put out the slides. Our instructions are all jacks have to be down before we put out the slides. This morning we had an RV Repair guy from the campground here come over to look at it but in the mean time Ernest jiggled some fuses etc and got it to turn on. We are now all set up and just hope it works when we leave.... it may be a short or a ground problem so we will have to see if it happens again.

We went grocery shopping in the morning and after lunch we went into Montreal for a look around. We spent some time in the Casino and then walked around "Old Montreal" and the "Old Port". After a great dinner in China Town we came home to watch "Canadian Idol"! Here are a few pictures for you!

Doors and Windows

Just some windows and doors I thought looked interesting in Quebec City on our last day there. I was rainy but we enjoyed our walk and we had a very good lunch!

Last Day In Quebec City

Today is our last day here in Quebec, it is on to Montreal in the morning. We had rain yesterday and right now this morning it is foggy. I hope it clears up, I would like to take the ferry back into the lower town.

Ernest had a good trip to Calgary and he enjoyed seeing all the Wolseley guys. I just did stuff here in the motor home and on the computer while he was gone. I also had a nice chat with Irene, Ken, and a few of the grand kids. Brad's older two are never home it seems these day, they are either working or at a friends......must be fun to be a teenage, ha ha!!

We are not sure where we will go after Montreal. I am sure we are skipping Ottawa but we have not decided if we will go to Niagara Falls or not. It adds about 500 km to the trip home, maybe we should wait until closer to the time we would go and see how the weather is. If it is raining or yukky then we could miss it.

Well, not much more to say so I will go and make coffee and maybe Ernest will smell it and then get up!

Covered Bridge and Waterfall

We went to see a "covered bridge" and on the way home we found another water fall. This Covered Bridge is the longest in Quebec and second longest in Canada! It was built in 1929 and is 154.5 meters. It is now open only to bikers and walkers. This water fall is closer to town and has free parking unlike the Montmorency falls which has a $9.00 parking fee.
Here is a slide show of the water fall, the internet is slow and will not upload the photos so I did the slide show. I will change it back to photos when I get better internet signal.

A Country Drive

We drove some of the route that we went on with one of the bus tours and then we continued on to a wildlife reserve. Although we did not see any wildlife we enjoyed a nice walk. On the way home after lunch we stopped at Chez Marie bread ovens once again and this time we bought a big jar of their "maple butter". We also stopped at the "Montmorency Water Falls". The bus had taken us there but this time we parked on the opposite side of the falls and enjoyed the view from there. We took the country roads for most of the way home. What a nice day we had!

A Visiting Day For Ernest

Today we just went to Quebec where Ernest met with a fellow from Wolseley. After lunch we came back to the motor home and just relaxed the rest of the afternoon and evening. I have a sore throat and hope I am not getting a cold!

Bus Tour

We booked two bus tours, one was the city tour and the other the country tour. Now we know a few places we want to check out on our own! There are some nice water falls to see, a bird reserve to visit and just some nice farm country to check out. It is really nice here and I think romantic..... Although the photos may show clouds, it is really quite warm here and the clouds come and go! We did have a few showers and one down pour but they lasted a short time.

The Montmorency Falls are one and a half times higher than Niagara Falls. I did not go onto the bridge there but Ernest did. We bought a copper "Owl" clock from a "Copper Gallery" we visited! We have not bought many souvenirs but the things we did buy are nice and will not end up in a "garage sale", ha ha! We also toured Basilique de Ste-Anne De-Beaurpe, a beautiful church. One stop was at the bread ovens, where we had some bread with "maple butter" on it. The prices there are high there but then maple syrup is expensive at home too.

The city tour was okay but not many stops for photos, mostly it was just drive by and information....which I immediately forgot! There is a lot to see in town if you into history, museums, etc.

We are both fine and although Ernest did have a sore throat for a day or so it did not slow him down and he did not get sick and no fever so that is good. He leaves on Thursday for Calgary, Brian's retirement, and he will be back Friday night. A nice man that we met in Newfoundland is here at the RV park and he will drive Ernest to and from the airport. Well, here are a few more photos......I should of checked these photos in the motor home as it is too bright here in McDonalds to see if they are clear enough to put on the blog....I hope they are ok for you to see!

Quebec City

We are now just outside of Quebec City in a nice RV Park. We have been driving around 300 km each day since leaving PEI, some days a bit more and some days a bit less. Ernest says his eyes seem to tire and that is about all he wants to drive. I think when we get home he will get his eyes tested, eye problems could be part of the diabetes. Here are a few of our first day touring Quebec.

Ceilidh and Lobster Dinner

We went for a drive and then we had a "Lobster Dinner" before going to the "Ceilidh" just down the road from our RV Park in the community hall. At dinner A little girl named Ellie came to me and I had fun looking at the lobster, counting its legs, etc. with her. She entertained us for most of the meal and I enjoyed her so much because I am really missing my granddaughters.

Bottle Houses

We toured the "Bottle Houses" with Roger and Geri, (new friends from VERNON) before going to the "Anne & Gilbert" musical. We had dinner before the show at a little "sea food" restaurant and no we did not have "Lobster again" Ernest has Scallops and I had Fish and Chips....yummy! We really enjoyed the show and we actually got back into the RV park before midnight this time!

Nightime Entertainment PEI

Last night we went to listen to this group, they were very good and the night was just $16.00 for the two of us.

We went with people we met in June while in Louisburg Nova Scotia, they are once again in the same RV Campground as us. Their names are Roger and Geri, and they live in Vernon! It is nice to have someone to do things with as I think Ernest and I are getting bored with just each other to to talk to.

We went to Boston Pizza after the show and because our dinner came late we were late getting back into the RV Campground and the gate was locked. We knew the gate locks at midnight and we were 5 minutes late. We would of had a long dark walk to the motor home but we stopped off at the house and the owner went and opened the gate so we could bring our car in. The people here are so nice, he kept saying sorry for locking us out! We know rules are rules and we did try to get home before midnight, we felt like teenagers again! On Sunday we are going to another show "Ann and Gilbert" but we will come right home so we make it before 12:00 AM!

Driving Around PEI

Here are just a few of the sights we saw driving around this beautiful island. Debbie I do not know how you could leave this place and in live in "Calgary Alberta" of all places, ha ha ha!
